Sorry for the confusion as I am running WP10, 10.0.990 on xp sp1.
I was never accussed of being a good typist, my appology. I have retried
after the sp4 patch and the crash still occurs and I did generate a
CARM. I did do one further test and took the fist sheet of the Quattro
file which had the data and repasted it into a new file and then it
worked, just like the Excel file. There was not much, if anything after
the first sheet in the original file.
The crash was immediately after a data conversion.
I do have the file wplook to check WP files, but that obviously does not
work on Quattro.
Sorry for the delay, I am still getting used to the newest nesgroup
manager and I missed the reply at first due to sort order.

Post by Chris DFred,
You posted in the WPO2002 group, so perhaps the suggestion was geared to
that. Your build of WP9 has known problems with WinXP - it was designed
before XP was released. You will need to get the SP4 version of WP9 to
run properly in XP.
SP4 was a rather extensive rewrite, and it cannot be downloaded as a
patch. If it is still available, you can call Corel 1-800-77corel and
order a replacement disk set. You will need your serial number and a
credit card for the $10 shipping.
If you do this, uninstall SP3 completely, including removing left over
files, and clean out the major Corel registry entries.
It might be time to upgrade to WP10 [a bargain on Amazon now] or WP11.
If you decide to do this, be sure to ask us about the patches you may
need, as disks in the retail channel are not always the latest.
Post by Fred MopsikFollowing an email reply, I have updated Windows to SP!. I have just
retried and wordperfet still immediaely crashes. The merge works when
I convert to an XLS file. The Quattro file has multiple pages. This
time I receie3ve a CARM window
Post by Fred MopsikI have just applied SP3 to Office 2000 and evey time I try to access
a QPW file either as a data source for a merge or to insert into a
tsable, There is an immediate crash, after a short converting window
and a runtime arror saying that there is an error in C++, contact the
vendor. I do not recall this error before. It did access an XLS
version OK.
I am running under XP pro without the service pack.
